We had a great time at Sam's Burger Joint recently opening for 70s rockers Wishbone Ash as part of its 50th Anniversary Tour.
sDon Stephens, a veteran musician with '60s and '70s rock roots, is currently touring his unique Stringman show featuring psychedelic and classic rock and blues. The show reconnects audiences with the powerful music that defined a generation and includes a selection of Don's original songs from seven albums with his band, Stringman Delivery. The band draws its name from Neil Young's song of the same name. Young, along with many of the psychedelic rock, folk, and blues bands of the 60’s and 70’s era, remain a major musical influence for Don and helped shape his song writing style and performance.
Don's solo show is backed by subtle percussion accompaniment from drummer Jeff Cowart, and the artful sound mix of Eric Zawadzki.

Don will be mixing in some acoustic favorites with his electric guitar set list in solo performance this week.
Don has been playing electric and acoustic guitar, piano, bass pedals and harmonica professionally for 40 years. He began his music career playing coffee houses and clubs in Indiana in the mid-'70s. His sound is heavily influenced by the rock bands and folk artists of that time including Neil Young, Moody Blues, Bob Dylan, Roger McGuinn, Tom Waits and others.
For the Stringman show, Don is accompanied on percussion by Jeff Cowart, a Louisiana native and Texan who has his own deep roots in '60s and '70s music and who has been performing more than 40 years. Eric Zawadzki creates the ambience for the show through sound mix and lighting with professional experience dating back to the days when Molly Hatchett and Lickety Split toured together. Both Jeff and Eric are veteran members of Stringman Delivery, the band that backs Don for larger shows.
“Don takes his influences from the likes of Neil Young, the Byrds and Tom Petty. He’s got some good tunes under his belt – more than enough to make fans of heartland rock very happy indeed." – Stuart Hamilton
"A quintet from Texas fronted by a guy called Don Stephens (who wrote each song) who are very retro American folk kind of a way to put it, but with a laid back rock style about them too... Overall think Bob Dylan and Neil Young!” - Glen Milligan
“From San Antonio, TX, we find classic rock blues artist Stringman Delivery… that is well worth checking out and borders between Americana, rock and blues through to melodic pop, and songs that flow with majestic passion. Singer Don Stephens has a fantastic diverse voice that is somewhere between Don Henley, Tom Waits, Brian Wilson, John Cougar Mellencamp, Neil Young and the late Dan Peek.” – Nicky Baldrian
